Role Description
3M Japan is seeking a sales professional to support its Consumer Business by leading sales activities across consumer goods distribution channels. The specific product category and account responsibilities will be determined through the selection process based on the candidate’s experience, interests, and overall fit for the role.
Key Responsibilities

Developing and strengthening relationships with existing customers to drive sales growth through consultative selling.

Leading business discussions, product listing proposals, and commercial negotiations with retail headquarters, including mass retailers, drugstores, home improvement centers, e-commerce accounts, as well as stationery wholesalers and distributors.

Identifying and developing new sales channels and new customer accounts.

Planning and executing shelf placement proposals, catalog listings, promotional programs, and in-store merchandising initiatives.

Utilizing market intelligence, POS data, and other sales data to generate insights and prepare customer-facing proposals and presentation materials.

Collaborating cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including Marketing, Logistics, and Customer Service, to ensure effective execution of sales strategies.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in the consumer goods industry.

Demonstrated experience using market data and POS data to develop and deliver sales proposals.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

Ability to identify business issues, structure solutions, and build logical, persuasive proposals.

Proficiency in basic PC applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in category management.

Experience analyzing ID-POS data, panel data, or similar datasets.

Experience developing sales strategies with channel partners and conducting customer negotiations.

Experience using planogram or shelf management tools.
