The Business Development Specialist (BDS) is a merchant‑centric, growth‑focused sales role within TD Merchant Solutions, designed for professionals who thrive in a fast‑paced, opportunity‑rich environment.

Responsible for building a strong pipeline and achieving sales targets.

Expanding TD’s presence in the SMB segment by leveraging the full TD Merchant Solutions value proposition, including Clover.

Acting as a trusted payments and business solutions advisor to help small and medium‑sized businesses modernize how they accept payments and manage operations.

Engaging merchants in conversations about innovation, efficiency, and long‑term growth.
Qualifications

Proven experience in business development, outbound sales, or merchant acquisition, ideally within payments, POS, financial services, or technology‑enabled solutions.

Demonstrated success in prospecting, cold calling, pipeline building, and closing new business opportunities.

Strong ability to uncover merchant needs and position value‑based solutions, not just products.

Experience or strong interest in Point of Sale (POS), payments, or fintech solutions.

Proven ability to build trusted relationships with business owners and decision‑makers.

Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

Comfortable working in a remote, territory‑based role with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.

Experience using CRM tools, preferably Salesforce, to manage pipeline activity and forecasting.
Requirements

Willingness to travel within the assigned territory and work flexible hours based on business needs.

Previous experience in Merchant Solutions, Business Banking, Payments, or SMB sales is considered a strong asset.
