Role Description

Phenomenex is seeking an Executive Account Manager to grow an assigned territory through frequent customer visits and strategic account development. This travel-intensive role involves:

• Building multilevel relationships
• Navigating complex sales cycles
• Solving chromatography and sample-preparation challenges through consultative selling
• Achieving sales and profitability targets while securing significant, long-term business

Key Responsibilities:

• Grow the territory through prospecting, account expansion, and delivering sales, gross-profit, unit, and market-share objectives — backed by genuine technical depth.
• Provide bench-level technical engagement including workflow optimization, product demonstrations, and practical troubleshooting that builds customer confidence and drives adoption across chromatography and sample-preparation solutions.
• Maintain a strong field presence through customer visits, technical seminars, vendor shows, and industry events — engaging scientists at the bench as well as decision-makers at the leadership and procurement level.
• Build multilevel relationships across end users, influencers, and decision-makers; lead strategic opportunities from technical evaluation through commercial close, developing account plans, proposals, and long-term agreements.
• Capture field insights and customer feedback routinely to inform product development and commercial strategy, while collaborating with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to align customer needs with broader business objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related scientific discipline, plus 5+ years of experience in an outside sales role.
• Deep expertise in sample preparation, chromatography and mass spectrometry, with the ability to effectively communicate scientific concepts, products, and applications to laboratory customers.
• Ability to plan and prioritize territory activities, organize resources, and work independently to meet business objectives.
• Proficiency with company-provided AI and digital sales tools to identify and develop new business opportunities.

Requirements

• This is a travel-intensive field-sales role. Approximately 50–75% of working time will be spent visiting customers throughout Canada, with regular multi-day trips and overnight travel.
• Candidates must be comfortable maintaining a demanding travel schedule while independently managing a geographically dispersed territory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Successful experience in a sales, technical-sales, or customer-service role within the life sciences or laboratory market.
• Experience using customer relationship management software.
• High level working knowledge of consumables sales into target industry growth market and/or technique in the region.
• Bilingual proficiency in French and English is preferred.

Benefits

• Annual salary range: $85,000 to $100,000 CAN.
• Eligible for Sales Incentive Compensation (SIC), with total target compensation at plan (base + SIC) ranging from $145,000 to $180,000 CAN.
