Role Description
The Director of Sales Analytics is a critical leadership role responsible for transforming data into actionable insights that drive revenue growth across our multi-category portfolio. This individual will lead the development of analytics capabilities, leverage syndicated data (including Nielsen), and partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Finance to identify opportunities, optimize performance, and support strategic decision-making. This role requires a hands-on leader (“player-coach”) who can both build and execute while developing a high-performing analytics function.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Analytics & Insights

Translate complex data sets (Nielsen, POS, syndicated, internal) into clear, compelling business insights and actionable recommendations.

Identify opportunities for growth across customers, categories, and channels (pricing, assortment, promotion, distribution).

Lead the development of data-driven selling stories for key retail partners.

Provide forward-looking insights to support strategic initiatives and long-term growth plans.

Business Performance & Reporting

Own and lead all sales reporting and analytics, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews.

Develop standardized dashboards and KPIs to track performance across customers and channels.

Analyze performance vs. plan, prior year, and market trends to identify risks and opportunities.

Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership, including the SVP of Sales.

Planning & Forecasting

Partner with Sales and Finance to support forecasting, demand planning, and annual operating plans.

Develop analytical frameworks to improve forecast accuracy and scenario planning.

Support pricing strategy, trade investment analysis, and ROI measurement.

Retail & Customer Analytics

Leverage Nielsen and other syndicated data to analyze category trends, market share, and competitive dynamics.

Identify whitespace opportunities at retail (distribution gaps, assortment optimization, shelf strategy).

Support Joint Business Planning (JBP) with data-backed recommendations.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Serve as a key partner to Sales, Marketing, and Finance to align on strategy and execution.

Collaborate with Marketing on category insights, innovation sizing, and go-to-market strategy.

Partner with Finance on financial modeling, trade efficiency, and revenue optimization.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Sales Analytics team.

Establish best practices, tools, and processes for data management and reporting.

Drive a data-driven culture across the organization.

Act as both a strategic leader and hands-on contributor.
Qualifications
-
10+ years of experience in Sales Analytics, Category Management, Revenue Growth Management, or related roles within CPG.

Deep experience with Nielsen (required) and other syndicated data sources (IRI/Circana preferred).

Proven track record of influencing sales strategy and driving measurable business results.

Experience supporting major retail accounts (e.g., mass, grocery, pet specialty, eCommerce).

Prior experience in the pet category preferred.

Advanced proficiency in Excel and data tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
