Role Description

The Business Development Director is responsible for driving new customer acquisition across core legal markets, including the corporate, public sector, and tax segments. You will develop strong customer relationships, shaping solutions that meet client needs, and leading high-impact commercial opportunities. You will guide managers, support team development, and be accountable for delivering results in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customer stakeholders.
  • Lead account reviews to align on goals, performance, risks, and growth opportunities.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities with prospects and partners.
  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes through to contract.
  • Increase market awareness of products and services within assigned sectors.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product, delivery, and finance teams to grow pipeline.
  • Support and develop managers to build an inclusive, high-performing team.
  • Deliver the business plan and contribute to wider planning and prioritisation.

Qualifications

  • Experience driving revenue growth in B2B or enterprise environments.
  • Proven ability to close complex sales opportunities.
  • Experience managing strategic accounts and engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial skills, including forecasting, negotiation, and pipeline management.
  • Ability to translate customer needs into solution options and business cases.
  • Experience leading teams through managers and supporting their development.
  • Clear, confident communication and the ability to build trust across diverse groups.
  • Strategic thinker who uses data, learns quickly, and continuously improves.
