Role Description
You'll join as our first dedicated compute sales hire and work directly with leadership to close the deals that run on our fleet, shape how we price and structure capacity, and build the commercial playbook the team will grow around. It's a chance to put your expertise to work where it matters most right now: getting AI builders the compute they need, faster and cleaner than anyone else can.
-
Own compute deals from first conversation through renewal: sourcing, qualification, structuring, pricing, contracting, booking, deployment handoff, and expansion.
-
Build pipeline across AI labs, inference providers, neoclouds, and AI-native startups, drawing on your network, outbound, and broker and channel relationships.
-
Get to know each buyer's workload, GPU needs, cluster size, term, connectivity requirements, and credit profile so every deal is set up to succeed.
-
Structure deals across reserved, committed-capacity, and on-demand models, shaping rate, term, ramp, deposits, and payment terms for durable revenue and healthy margins.
-
Lead agreements and redlines in partnership with Rune's counsel, including GPU leases, cluster computing agreements, and node access agreements.
-
Negotiate SLAs and key commercial terms: uptime and connectivity commitments, service credits, termination rights, liability, and indemnification.
-
Partner with finance to set each deal up cleanly for booking, billing, and revenue recognition.
-
Work with engineering and site operations to align delivery plans with customer timelines, and guide customers through onboarding and go-live.
-
Serve as the customer's trusted commercial partner after close, supporting their growth and leading renewals and expansions.
-
Keep pipeline and forecasts current, and help shape the standard terms, pricing guidelines, and playbook as the team grows.
-
Stay close to the market (GPU pricing, allocation, competitor capacity, new entrants) and bring those insights into Rune's pricing and fleet planning.
Qualifications
-
4β7 years in B2B sales, business development, or deal desk, including at least 2 years in GPU cloud, bare metal, HPC, or AI infrastructure.
-
Experience at a neocloud, hyperscaler, GPU reseller, or AI infrastructure company.
-
A track record of closing multi-month or multi-year compute commitments, with hands-on ownership of structure, pricing, and terms.
-
Experience negotiating MSAs, order forms, and SLAs, and a strong sense of which terms matter most commercially.
-
Working knowledge of reserved and committed-capacity pricing and the basics of revenue recognition.
-
Strong commercial and financial judgment, including modeling deal economics, term risk, and customer credit.
-
Technical fluency in GPU generations, training and inference workloads, interconnect and networking, and cluster reliability.
-
Deep relationships across AI labs, inference companies, and the broader compute ecosystem.
-
Energized by ownership and early-stage building, with the chance to shape how Rune sells.
-
Clear, thoughtful communication with customers and teammates alike.
-
Nice to have: familiarity with power, data center, or energy markets, or deal desk experience at a cloud provider.
Benefits
-
Competitive base and strategic ownership in what we believe will be one of the largest infrastructure build-outs of the decade.
Company Description
Rune connects wasted power to the compute that needs it. We build modular micro data centers that install directly at solar sites, bypassing the traditional grid entirely and turning stranded power into compute. We're backed by Spark Capital, Union Square Ventures, and Lowercarbon Capital.
