Role Description
You’ll be responsible for managing relationships with mobile operators, regional and international carriers and SMS aggregators—particularly across Asia Pacific regions. Your mission is to secure high-quality, competitively priced SMS routes that enable us to deliver exceptional A2P messaging services to our customers worldwide. This is an individual contributor role, ideal for someone who knows the ins and outs of Carrier partnerships, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys the hustle of negotiation and business development.
- Manage and grow partnerships with mobile operators, carriers, and SMS aggregators within the designated regions.
- Continuously seek new partnerships to improve cost efficiency.
- Negotiate and secure SMS routes that deliver on quality, reliability, and cost.
- Share insights on industry trends, market shifts, gathering market intelligence and competitor strategies.
- Maintain high service standards through strategic oversight of partner operations and traffic efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Wholesale, Technical and other relevant internal stakeholders (i.e. Finance, Legal) teams.
- Expand 8x8’s reach by identifying and launching new routes, features, and destinations to stay abreast of competition.
- Travel occasionally to in-country or to conferences to meet partners and support key business initiatives.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience working with telecom carriers or SMS aggregators (A2P messaging focus).
- Deep understanding of the SMS routing ecosystem and regional market dynamics, especially in the Asia Pacific regions.
- A self-starter with strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and a hands-on approach.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
- Good presentation skills.
- Experience working cross-functionally in a global environment.
- Ability to speak a local Asian language is a big plus.
- Travel occasionally to meet partners and support key business initiatives.
