Role Description

This role involves driving growth in our plasmid DNA services by connecting biotech innovators with the DNA solutions they need.

  • Lead the full-cycle business development process—from prospecting and quoting to closing deals and managing long-term client relationships.
  • Identify and engage new clients in gene and cell therapy, mRNA therapeutics, synthetic biology, and vaccine development.
  • Maintain a quarterly goal of generating 30–50 new leads and converting 3–5 into long-term customers.
  • Educate potential clients on our capabilities and how our approach to plasmid manufacturing can accelerate their timelines and streamline their workflows.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to develop customized proposals and pricing models that align with customer needs and program timelines.
  • Provide feedback on evolving customer needs to help shape service development and innovation.
  • Refine internal tools and processes for quoting, CRM, and lead generation.
  • Represent the company at relevant industry events (~25% travel) and conferences.

Qualifications

  • Background in molecular biology, synthetic biology, or a related life sciences field (BS, MS, or PhD strongly preferred).
  • Understanding of common applications and manufacturing requirements for plasmid DNA, including use in AAV/viral vector production, mRNA therapeutics, and CRISPR/Cas9 workflows.
  • 3-5+ years in a business development or technical sales role at a CDMO, CRO, or biotech service provider.
  • Existing network in biotech or gene therapy with needs in plasmid DNA.
  • Comfortable navigating technical discussions with scientists, program managers, and procurement teams.
  • Enjoy building relationships and take a consultative approach to uncovering needs and offering solutions.
  • Highly self-motivated, results-driven, and thrive in environments where you can help build the plane while flying it.
  • Collaborative, coachable, and not afraid to dive into the details when needed.

Requirements

  • Experience selling technical services to biotech companies—particularly in the gene therapy, mRNA, or synthetic biology space.
