[Hiring] Temporary Wetland Remote Sensing Research Assistant @Colorado State University

Role Description

The O’Connell Landscape Modeling lab is seeking a motivated temporary research assistant to support ongoing research on a USDA project titled "Assessing the Climate Change Mitigation Potential of Wetland Restoration in the Conservation Reserve Program: Measurements, Modeling, and Scaling Changes in Soil Carbon and Greenhouse Gas Fluxes." This position is ideal for a recent graduate interested in wetland research, data analysis, remote sensing, and scientific writing.

Essential Job Duties:

• Help manage and contribute to shared research resources (e.g., Zotero library, Google drive)
• Analyze wetland biomass and remote sensing data
• Review literature and maintain an annotated bibliography in preparation for manuscript publication and assist with manuscript drafting, revisions, and final editing
• Participate in weekly/biweekly project meetings and present progress updates to the collaborators
• Support general research, project and lab management tasks, and assist with other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills
• Communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Prior experience with scientific communication
• A science degree in a relevant field, either in progress or complete

Requirements

• Prior experience with remote sensing analysis related to wetland vegetation in coastal and depressional wetland environments, especially tidal wetlands and playa wetlands of the High Plains, USA
• Past experience creating scientific presentations
• Scientific writing related to wetland vegetation
