[Hiring] Research Fellow, Sustainability and Resilience @IMD

Role Description

The research fellow will work for the Risk & Resilience Initiative, led by Prof. Florian Hoos, focusing on integrating sustainability into corporate governance and risk management.

• Develop and conduct novel research that fulfills the goals of the initiative.
• Ensure publishable outcomes in top-tier academic journals and relevant practitioner outlets.
• Translate research results into materials for IMD teaching offerings and events.

Key Deliverables

• Develop a clear research strategy aligned with the initiative and publish in FT50 journals.
• Distill key insights and publish white papers, cases, and other formats for broader audiences.
• Leverage dissemination channels to communicate research insights in short formats.
• Engage stakeholders and gain partners to support research and disseminate knowledge.
• Contribute to strategy development for the initiative's long-term success.

Qualifications

• PhD in management or economics with a focus on sustainability, ideally environmental dimensions.
• Evidence of research or fieldwork in sustainability strategy, ESG risk management, or related areas.
• Strong qualitative and/or quantitative research skills.
• Demonstrated capacity to publish in top-tier academic journals and practitioner outlets.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Comfort engaging with top managers, board members, and investors.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Full fluency in English; proficiency in French and/or German is a plus.

Requirements

• Strong qualitative (interviews, case study design) and/or quantitative skills (econometrics, text analytics).
• Experience in stakeholder engagement with diverse backgrounds.
• Deadline and results-oriented attitude.

Benefits

• Location: Lausanne, Switzerland or remotely.
• Salary: Depending on experience and location.
• Hours: Full Time (40 hours) or Part Time (minimum 20 hours).
• Contract Type: 3 years, Fixed-Term.
• Start Date: ASAP.
