Role Description

Within the Department of Medicine at UCSD, the Center on Gender Equity and Health (GEH) focuses on conducting innovative global public health research, medical and academic training, and evidence-based intervention development and evaluation of programs related to gender inequities, gender-based violence, and sexual and reproductive health.

• The Research Data Analyst provides day-to-day leadership and coordination for qualitative and mixed-methods research projects focused on:
  • Social and gender norms
  • Adolescent wellbeing
  • Sexual and reproductive health
  • Gender-based violence
  • Violence against children
• Responsible for managing research implementation across the project lifecycle, with emphasis on:
  • Qualitative and mixed-methods study design
  • Tool development
  • Data collection
  • Analysis and synthesis
• Works closely with PIs, co-investigators, and partners to ensure:
  • Methodological rigor
  • Adherence to protocols
  • High-quality data
• Plays a key management and coordination role, including:
  • Tracking deliverables
  • Supporting team workflows
  • Facilitating communication across partners and internal teams
• Contributes to proposal development, manuscript preparation, and dissemination products.
• Represents projects in meetings, learning forums, and conferences as needed.
• Requires a proactive, collaborative team player who can balance independent initiative with strong coordination and support of others.

Qualifications

• Seven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.
• Thorough knowledge of research function and methodologies including desk reviews, key informant interviews, and case studies.
• Skills associated with statistical analysis and systems programming.
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• Experience with data collection activities and knowledge of data collection procedures and protocols.
• Skills in analysis and consultation, including producing presentations, reports, graphics, and spreadsheets.
• Project management skills, including managing contractual agreements and monitoring study budgets.
• Research skills to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.
• Experience writing for social-behavioral research including study progress reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
• Ability to work across multiple projects and prioritize tasks with conflicting deadlines.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Extensive computer experience, including expertise with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience working with partners/projects in low and middle income countries (LMICs).

Requirements

• Life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment.
