Role Description

The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) is seeking a motivated Computational Neuroscience Intern to join the Joy Lab for a summer internship. The Joy Lab studies mechanisms of neural repair after stroke using large-scale neural recordings, ethological measurements of behavior, optogenetics, and transcriptomics. The successful candidate will work with datasets collected from neurophysiological recordings and animal behavior experiments.

• Developing and implementing statistical and machine learning models for data analysis.
• Data mining, data curation, and storage in research repositories.
• Significant opportunities for professional growth, including the chance to develop novel methods and evaluate existing approaches in computational neuroscience.
• Work closely with members of the Joy Lab.
• Learn about relevant biological questions and scientific literature.
• Apply analytical models to complex datasets.
• Contribute to scientific publications.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required.
• Master’s degree or experience in one or more areas such as neuroscience, machine learning, computational biology, statistics, data science, or a related field is desirable.

Requirements

• Remote work may be possible; however, the candidate is expected to communicate regularly and effectively with lab members.

• Pay Range: $14.5 - $30.51
