4d ago - Everest Consultants is hiring a remote Test Engineer. πŸ’Έ Salary: $115k - $135k πŸ“Location: USA

Role Description

The Test Engineer leads quality assurance for central pharmacy fulfillment deployments from Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) through Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and post-go-live support. This role develops and executes test strategies, validation protocols, and quality gates for hardware/software integration systems, including client proprietary RoboPharma, Parata, IARX, McKesson, and similar automated fulfillment platforms. The Test Engineer identifies defects, supports root-cause analysis, and ensures resolution across software, hardware, and integration teams before go-live. This hands-on role requires strong technical knowledge, disciplined documentation, and clear communication with engineering teams, customers, and leadership to confirm systems meet acceptance criteria and operate safely and reliably before production cutover.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Healthcare IT, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of QA/test engineering experience in healthcare IT, medical device, or industrial automation (pharmacy automation, robotic systems, or similar hardware-integrated software environments preferred).
  • Demonstrated expertise in systems integration testing: validating end-to-end workflows across middleware, APIs, healthcare integrations, vision systems, mechanical hardware, and databases.
  • Experience implementing or supporting automation in high-volume, high-uptime fulfillment or distribution operations (pharmacy central fill automation preferred) is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in pharmacy, healthcare, or pharmacy automation testing preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; ability to diagnose complex hardware and software integration issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical and mechanical schematics, and software specifications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong technical knowledge of pharmacy automation systems and central fill workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with test plan development, test case creation, defect tracking, and producing clear technical documentation.
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, or similar).
  • Proficiency in software tools such as MS Teams, Salesforce, Visio, and industry-specific platforms.
  • Knowledge of network protocols, database concepts, and HL7/NCPDP healthcare integration standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality orientation, and sense of responsibility for test accuracy and completeness.
  • Self-directed; uses tact and diplomacy in handling sensitive customer and technical issues.
  • Ability to work independently and own quality outcomes; strong sense of ownership and solid follow-through skills; positive can-do attitude.
  • Quick learner; ability to master industry-specific and company technology knowledge rapidly.
  • Experience with regulatory testing and audit preparation (USP <825>, FDA validation frameworks, state pharmacy board compliance) a plus.

Requirements

  • Design and lead FAT test strategy and protocols in partnership with systems integrators and hardware vendors; prepare comprehensive test plans that validate system architecture, hardware functionality, software integration, and interface performance prior to shipment to customer sites.
  • Own on-site SAT execution, including test case development, test environment setup, defect tracking, and sign-off. Coordinate with customer IT, pharmacy operations, and clinical stakeholders to ensure acceptance criteria are clear and met.
  • Conduct systems integration testing across hardware (sorters, vision systems, pick-and-place mechanisms, weighing scales) and software (dispenser logic, interface engines, pharmacy management system connectivity, HL7/NCPDP integrations, middleware).
  • Lead root-cause analysis on failed test cases; work cross-functionally with software engineers, hardware teams, integration specialists, and vendors to identify, prioritize, and resolve issues before go-live.
  • Define and document regression test suites for post-go-live validation, particularly for hotfixes, middleware updates, and configuration changes that impact system behavior.
  • Support post-go-live quality monitoring; conduct regression testing following production incidents, validate customer-requested enhancements, and verify system stability during the first 90 days and beyond.
  • Document test results, build validation matrices, and produce test reports for executive stakeholders and regulatory audits (state pharmacy boards, institutional compliance).
  • Stay current with central fill automation platforms and their vendor release cycles; proactively identify potential quality risks in new versions or integrations.
  • Mentor and guide Installation Engineers on quality best practices and test execution; support site level troubleshooting during customer installations.
  • Report weekly status updates and progress to Tech Delivery Leadership and customers upon request; identify obstacles or concerns that require resolution, communicating all relevant data to internal teams and vendor partners.
  • Identify areas for improvement in products and testing processes, and work with engineering and product teams to recommend and drive enhancements.
  • Cooperatively provide testing and quality-related training to colleagues as needed.
  • Must understand and comply with Safety, 5S, ISO, and other corporate programs, initiatives and procedures.
  • Dependable and consistent attendance is critical for project success and quality outcomes.
  • Coordinate daily with Tech Deployment Leads and Site Installation Managers; support the transition to post-go-live Technical Support.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, & vision insurance
  • Short-term disability
  • Life and AD&D insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
