In this role, you’ll serve as a quality leader in Mercury’s Personal Lines domain. You’ll build and scale automation frameworks and test coverage across UI and API layers using Java and Selenium, while mentoring junior QA teammates and helping elevate a team that supports a fast-moving environment. This is a strong fit for someone with deep white-box and automation testing experience who is excited to bring modern, AI-enabled approaches to scripting and test design.

As a Staff Test Engineer, you will take ownership of the TE strategy for larger and more complex software projects, working closely with development, product, and engineering teams. You will design and implement robust test plans, develop and maintain automated test scripts, and drive continuous improvement in testing processes and maximizing testing efficiency through automation. Your deep technical expertise will help optimize test frameworks, mentoring senior engineers while ensuring high levels of test coverage and quality assurance across products. You will play a critical role in ensuring product quality and stability through proactive risk management and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Develop Test Plans and Strategies: Lead the creation and execution of high-level test strategies for complex projects.
• Design and Execute Test Cases: Take ownership of designing and executing high-complexity cross-functional test cases.
• Perform Manual and Automated Testing: Lead both manual and automated testing efforts in a medium sized functional area.
• Documentations for Process and Bug Report: Identify complex defects and provide detailed analysis in bug reports.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
• Continuous Improvement: Implement and drive continuous improvement practices.
• Continuous Learning: Establish yourself as an expert in emerging testing technologies and methodologies.
• Mentor TE Team Members on Product knowledge: Provide mentorship and leadership to less experienced engineers.
• Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills: Proactively identify and address obstacles or bottlenecks.
• Test Strategy Review: Develop and review comprehensive test strategies.
• Test Case Review: Review and approve test cases for multiple teams.
• Monitor and Analyze Testing Metrics: Continuously track, analyze, and interpret testing metrics.
• Drive and Develop Test Engineering Strategies and Policies: Drive and define the strategic direction for test engineering.
• Test Automation Effectiveness and Coverage: Collaborate with SET team to define and implement automation priorities.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related fields.
• Minimum: 8+ years industry experience, hands-on experience leading testing teams on medium-sized projects.
• Minimum: 3+ years of experience writing complex automation tests.
• Preferred: 7 or more years of white box testing experience.
• Preferred: 5 or more years of experience in automation testing.
• Preferred: 3 or more years of experience with Java or Python.
• Preferred: 3 or more years of experience testing UI and APIs.
• Preferred: Exposure to Insurance Industry.
• Preferred: Exposure to leveraging AI in testing.
