Role Description

The Senior QA Engineer II will lead quality efforts for products supporting healthcare providers, patient workflows, and diagnostic reporting. This role combines hands-on testing with technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is self-directed, organized, and committed to delivering reliable, accessible, and user-centered products.

This role is fully remote; however, we have a preference for candidates able to work in the Pacific Time Zone (PST) hours to better align with team collaboration. This role does not provide visa sponsorship. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of hire and must not require employer sponsorship for a work visa (current or future).

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software quality assurance experience.
• Demonstrated success leading quality initiatives across cross-functional and partner teams.
• Deep knowledge of QA methodologies, test design techniques, and risk-based testing for complex systems.
• Strong understanding of web and mobile technologies, client-server architecture, APIs, integrations, and system dependencies.
• Hands-on experience testing native or cross-platform mobile applications on iOS and Android, including testing across devices, operating-system versions, screen sizes, and network conditions.
• Hands-on experience testing REST APIs and backend services.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java.
• Experience developing or improving test automation frameworks, standards, coverage, reliability, and maintainability.
• Experience using modern web or mobile automation frameworks and integrating automated tests into CI/CD workflows.
• Knowledge of accessibility testing and standards such as WCAG, with experience using tools such as Axe, Lighthouse, or screen readers.
• Experience with defect tracking and test-management tools, such as Jira, in an Agile development environment.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to explain quality risks and technical tradeoffs to varied audiences.
• A record of driving cross-functional quality or process improvements through completion.
• Experience mentoring technical and non-technical colleagues and building quality capability across teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Requirements

• Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to establish quality throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Analyze business requirements, architecture, interfaces, integrations, and dependencies to develop comprehensive, risk-based test strategies.
• Define and improve quality standards, testing practices, and processes across the team and partner teams.
• Create and maintain test strategies, plans, cases, and supporting documentation.
• Perform manual and automated testing of web and mobile applications, including exploratory, functional, acceptance, regression, end-to-end, and UI testing.
• Define and advance test automation standards and coverage, balancing product risk with reliability, maintainability, and execution speed.
• Test REST APIs and backend services for correctness, reliability, and resilience.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects and quality risks through resolution.
• Lead root cause analysis with engineers to resolve defects and prevent recurrence.
• Communicate test strategy, quality risks, release readiness, and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Identify systemic quality and process issues, align the appropriate stakeholders, and drive practical improvements through completion.
• Mentor engineers and other team members to strengthen quality practices and shared ownership of quality.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to improve release confidence and delivery speed.
• Evaluate web and mobile applications against applicable accessibility requirements, including WCAG, through manual and automated testing.
• Contribute to performance and security testing based on product risk and team needs.

• The base salary for this role ranges from $145,000-$165,000 in local currency, depending upon experience and geographic location.
