[Hiring] (Senior) QA Engineer - AI-Driven Testing @1KOMMA5°

Role Description

As part of our Mobile App Platform team, you will own the quality strategy of our Flutter apps, and change how we approach testing. AI-driven QA is the differentiator in this role. Our QA team already uses AI for test generation, but we want to go much further. You will help reinvent it:

• Autonomous exploration
• Smarter test orchestration
• Self-directed QA workflows
• QA systems that detect product risks before they reach users

This is not a "write test cases and file tickets" role. You co-create systems and practices that enable our product teams to own product quality end-to-end and work with them to close the gaps so we can ship with confidence. Speed boost instead of speed bump. You think about quality as something you design into the product and process, not a checklist you run before release, effectively shifting quality assurance left.

Key Responsibilities

• App Platform Quality Ownership: Own the quality strategy of our Flutter apps and testing architecture across our mobile product teams from a platform standpoint, including test strategy, execution, and production monitoring.
• Platform Collaboration & Support: Partner closely with cross-functional mobile product teams to shape quality practices, close testing gaps, and enable teams to ship with confidence.
• Automated Test Suite Management: Grow and maintain our automated test suite (Appium / BrowserStack), keeping it fast, stable, trusted, and focused on critical user journeys.
• Test Infrastructure Health: Keep test infrastructure healthy with minimized flakiness, faster runs, and actionable results for the entire engineering organization.
• Autonomous & AI-Driven Exploration: Create and scale autonomous exploration, intelligent test orchestration, and self-directed testing workflows from scratch to detect product risks before they reach users.

Qualifications

• User-Centric Quality Focus: Strong focus on real-world user journeys, edge cases, and product risk rather than relying solely on code coverage metrics.
• Comfortable with Ambiguity: High initiative and problem-solving drive to invent solutions from scratch when no standard playbook exists.
• QA Architecture & Mobile Automation: Extensive experience designing scalable testing strategies and hands-on expertise with mobile automation frameworks (Appium, Flutter integration testing) and cloud device farms (BrowserStack).
• Practical AI & Agentic Workflows: Active experience leveraging AI tools, LLM workflows, and testing agents for autonomous exploration, automated test generation, and defect analysis.
• CI/CD & Platform Enablement: Proven track record of integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) to deliver fast quality signals and co-creating practices that enable product teams to own quality without sacrificing velocity.
• User-Centric Quality & Communication: Focus on real-world user journeys and risk mitigation over simple coverage metrics, backed by strong English communication skills to guide engineering practices.

Bonus Points for:

• German language skills
• Experience with energy systems, IoT, or climate tech
• Native iOS/Android or deep Flutter/Dart architecture knowledge
• Track record of navigating ambiguity
• Experience in building testing tools from scratch
