6d ago - Geronimo Power, LLC is hiring a remote Quality Control Manager. ๐Ÿ’ธ Salary: usd 130,000 - 165,000 per year ๐Ÿ“Location: USA

Role Description

The Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Manager leads the owner-side quality assurance and quality control program for assigned renewable energy and infrastructure projects. This role establishes clear quality expectations, verifies that contractors and suppliers execute to approved drawings, specifications, contracts, and quality plans, and provides project leadership with timely visibility into quality performance, nonconformances, corrective actions, and emerging risk. The position partners closely with Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Commissioning, Operations, EPC contractors, vendors, and site quality personnel from preconstruction through turnover.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve the QA/QC framework, project quality requirements, templates, procedures, inspection expectations, metrics, and reporting for assigned projects.
  • Review contractor and supplier quality plans, inspection and test plans, procedures, submittals, records, and turnover packages for alignment with contract requirements, approved drawings, specifications, codes, and company expectations.
  • Coordinate quality execution with site quality personnel, Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Commissioning, Operations, EPC contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers, third-party inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Verify that applicable quality requirements are clearly communicated, flowed down to subcontractors and suppliers, incorporated into project documentation, and implemented in the field.
  • Plan and perform risk-based internal and external audits, surveillance activities, supplier or fabrication inspections, and field quality reviews; document findings and drive timely closure.
  • Ensure nonconformance reports, punch-list items, defects, and other quality deficiencies are promptly identified, documented, dispositioned, tracked, verified, and closed in accordance with project requirements.
  • Lead or facilitate root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive action activities for significant or recurring quality issues; identify trends and lessons learned across projects.
  • Monitor quality key performance indicators and the effectiveness of approved quality plans and processes; provide concise reporting, escalation, and recommendations to project and functional leadership.
  • Provide independent assurance that project work is progressing in accordance with approved plans, processes, contracts, specifications, drawings, and operational requirements without replacing the contractorโ€™s responsibility for quality control.
  • Support constructability, design, procurement, commissioning, turnover, warranty, and operations-readiness reviews to reduce downstream defects and improve handoff quality.
  • Participate in project, contractor, supplier, and company quality meetings and coach project personnel on quality expectations, documentation, and issue resolution.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready quality records in approved document-management and construction-management systems.
  • Travel to project sites, vendor facilities, and contractor locations as business needs require, including work in active construction environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, quality management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience.
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in construction, engineering, quality assurance, quality control, commissioning, or project delivery, including at least 4 years supporting utility-scale renewable energy, power generation, transmission, substations, data centers, or similarly complex infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing or overseeing contractor quality programs, inspection and test plans, audits, nonconformance management, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and turnover documentation.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, engineering drawings and specifications, quality documentation, inspection practices, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to independently assess quality risk, exercise sound judgment, influence contractors, and cross-functional teams, and escalate material issues with clear options and recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, data analysis, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and construction, quality, document-control, or database systems such as Procore.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to meet site-access requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to work at active construction sites, outdoors in varying weather and terrain, stand or walk for extended periods, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience across utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage systems, substations, transmission, or mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Formal auditor training or a quality credential such as ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 principles and quality management systems.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction training.
  • Experience with supplier quality, factory acceptance testing, commissioning, project turnover, warranty, or operations-readiness activities.

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Project quality requirements are clear, incorporated into contractor and supplier deliverables, and consistently applied in the field.
  • Audits, inspections, and surveillance activities are risk-based, completed on schedule, and produce actionable findings.
  • Nonconformances and corrective actions are accurately documented, appropriately escalated, and closed within agreed timelines with evidence of effectiveness.
  • Quality trends, recurring defects, and material project risks are visible early enough for leadership and project teams to act.
  • Turnover and quality records are complete, organized, traceable, and usable by Commissioning and Operations.
  • Lessons learned and performance data result in measurable improvements to future contracts, designs, quality plans, supplier expectations, and field execution.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and performance-based incentives
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Tuition assistance and ongoing professional development
  • Employee assistance program (EAP) and wellness resources
  • Pet insurance and employee discount programs
  • Pay Range for the posted level: $130,000 - $165,000 plus target annual bonus opportunity of 25%. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, location, internal equity, and demonstrated market-relevant expertise.
