YDay - Orbital Career is hiring a remote Project Scheduler (Electric Transmission & Distribution). 💸 Salary: $80,000 – $130,000 annually 📍Location: USA

Role Description

Orbital is seeking a Project Scheduler to join a team of specialists that supports a vast portfolio of projects in the field of Electric Utility Design and Construction. Project types include Transmission substation and line as well as Distribution substation and line. Projects are constructed throughout the Northeast United States.

This is a fully REMOTE role; candidates located in the EST Time Zone (UTC-4) are preferred as daily responsibilities may require participation in virtual meetings as early as 8 AM EST through 5 PM EST. This position may be filled at the Entry-level, Mid-level or Senior Scheduler level.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Data Entry and Maintenance:
    • Inputting project data into the Primavera P6 system, including project activities, durations, resources, and relationships between tasks.
    • Regularly updating and maintaining the schedule as the project progresses.
  • Schedule Monitoring:
    • Assisting in monitoring project progress by comparing actual work completed to the planned.
    • Identifying discrepancies and helping to develop corrective action plans.
  • Generating Reports:
    • Supporting and producing regular schedule reports and schedule updates for the project.
    • Extracting data from P6 and presenting it in a clear and concise manner.
  • Resource Management:
    • Assisting in managing project resources by ensuring they are properly assigned to activities and responsible groups are identified accurately.
  • Risk Assessment:
    • Supporting the identification and analysis of potential schedule risks and assisting in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Collaboration:
    • Working with the project team to collect information, verify progress, and ensure that the schedule reflects the most up-to-date status of the project.
    • Hosting and/or attending regularly scheduled project meetings to maintain working knowledge of project status and gather information needed to complete required tasks.
  • Training and Learning:
    • Continuously learning and improving your knowledge of Primavera P6, project scheduling best practices, and project management processes and practices.
    • Willingness to ask questions and seek training required to properly execute tasks.
  • Adherence to Standards:
    • Following established scheduling procedures, company guidelines, and industry best practices to maintain data integrity and consistency.

Qualifications

  • As a Project Scheduler – Senior-Level: 5+ years’ experience, considered an expert in project scheduling, with extensive experience in managing complex projects and mentoring less experienced schedulers.
  • As a Project Scheduler – Mid-Level: 2-5 years’ experience, expected to have vast experience and expertise in project scheduling using Primavera P6, comfortable working independently, and capable of handling more complex projects.
  • As a Project Scheduler – Entry-Level: 0-2 years’ experience, working under the guidance of a more experienced scheduler to manage and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 software.

Requirements

  • Senior: Bachelor’s Degree in a Related Field (Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or similar) with 5+ Years Scheduling Experience OR 7+ Years Scheduling Experience.
  • Mid-level: Bachelor’s Degree in a Related Field (Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or similar) with 2-5 Years Scheduling Experience OR 5+ Years Scheduling Experience.
  • Entry-level: Bachelor’s Degree in a Related Field (Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or similar) with 0-2 Years Scheduling Experience OR 2-5 Years Scheduling Experience.
  • Experience with Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution Projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in scheduling software (P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Strong written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills, self-motivated, and ability to prioritize.
  • Competent in basic computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe).
  • Able to work well in a group setting and manage simultaneous tasks.
  • Ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.
