Role Description

WSP is seeking a Project Manager, Power & Energy for our Power & Energy Program Management Office in Tulsa, OK. The following locations will also be considered: Oklahoma City, OK; Dallas, TX; Austin, TX; Houston, TX; Corpus Christi, TX; Bentonville, AR; and Shreveport, LA. The successful candidate may work remotely within the United States and must have the ability to travel to a WSP and/or Client office for periodic face-to-face meetings.

  • Provides technical project supervision and guidance with managing the administrative, commercial, and technical components of assigned project(s).
  • Ensures overall performance of assigned project(s) that are of moderate size/complexity and/or local/regional in scope.
  • Oversees financial, technical, client satisfaction, quality, safety, and schedule aspects of projects.
  • Ensures adherence to responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversees and monitors cross-functional teams of technical professionals to execute project work.
  • Plays a contributing role in the development of project proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Develops work breakdown structure (WBS) tasks and estimated costs.
  • Establishes the level of technical review required for the project.
  • Contributes to performing margin analyses, establishing margin goals and risk contingencies.
  • Coordinates and assists with the technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentation, and meetings.
  • Develops and updates Project Initiation/Setup Documentation.
  • Participates in project kick-off meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Works collaboratively with Project Accounting to monitor and track project metrics.
  • Oversees management of budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, cost and change management and control.
  • Coordinates with area/technical managers to address project resource and subcontracting requirements.
  • Immediately communicates and escalates any project site Health & Safety or significant client issues.
  • Participates in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions.
  • Provides regular project reporting and updates to clients and stakeholders.
  • Coordinates closely with client representatives and internal delivery teams.
  • Monitors accounts receivable (AR) and unbilled revenue.
  • Works with the Procurement Department to closeout procurements and/or supplier agreements.
  • Completes formal project closeout activities and conducts lessons-learned meetings.
  • Remains current in the latest Project Management techniques and practices (PMAP).
  • Exercises responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm.
  • Essential project management certification required (e.g., PMP, CAP-M).
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience in a project management role within our industry.
  • Sound understanding of project delivery process within the A/E/C industry.
  • Well-developed analytical and organizational skills.
  • Competent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail.
  • Works independently with minimal oversight.
  • Competent with technical writing and relevant software.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating resources.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.

Compensation

  • Expected Salary (all locations): $102,200 - $180,000.
  • Expected Salary (Colorado only): $95,000 - $159,000.
