Role Description

The Project Design Engineer is responsible for designing, engineering, and costing critical power construction projects.

• Create designs for strategic, large, technically complex projects.
• Support the construction of designs.
• Serve as subject matter expert for the resolution of technical issues.
• Continuously improve tools, templates, and software used to provide proper estimations, designs, and supporting documentation.
• Clarify project scope with clients and oversee discussions with professional engineering and architectural resources.
• Engage special technical resources as necessary and work with equipment vendors to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Perform system reliability calculations and engineer control and monitoring systems.
• Guide the sales and estimating team in the costing and pricing of offers.
• Assist the sales team with the presentation of solutions to clients.
• Support the Sales and Operations teams in managing internal and external client relationships.
• Assist Project Managers and installation teams to meet customer schedules and budgets while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical preferred) or similar technical field from an accredited university.
• Experience in critical power including protected DC power and AC power systems.
• Basic understanding of cooling systems, control systems, AC switch gear, and generator systems.
• Experience in project management and operations culture.
• Understanding of financial statements, budgets, and engineering economic calculations.
• Ability to create, document, and present design concepts to customers and operations.
• Experience working with professional engineers and architects.
• Familiarity with construction techniques and able to apply them to design solutions.

Requirements

• Experience and ability in the use of SharePoint and TEAMS.
• Excellent computer skills (specifically MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint).
• Experience in technical drawings programs (AutoCAD, Visio) required.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and make critical decisions on a day-to-day basis.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Incumbent must obtain a Criminal Record Check and Drivers Abstract on regular intervals upon starting and during employment.
