Role Description

As an integral member of the Facilities department, and working under the direction of the Director, Facility Operations & Planning, the Project Coordinator will act as the hospitals’ representative working with a multi-disciplinary team of hospital staff, professional consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to guide the planning, design, implementation, contract administration, and close out of multiple projects across the hospital, including Mackenzie Health community locations.

The incumbent will work closely with hospital users to plan and design the physical space requirements to support process redesign objectives and hospital policies and procedures. The incumbent will ensure that plans are developed in accordance with best practice, adhering to applicable codes, standards, and relevant regulatory guidelines.

Contribute to safe, quality care by:

  • Providing technical input and support where required.
  • Being a key participant in user group meetings; acting as the key liaison between end users, architects, construction team, and consultants to ensure client and Hospital objectives are met throughout the entire planning.
  • Liaising with departmental team members within the hospital team to ensure all associated project activities are coordinated.
  • Conducting site reviews of architectural building assemblies, finishes, coordination, and integration of Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural.
  • Expediting and tracking Hospital input into RFI and addendum requests.
  • Working closely with the team to stay abreast of changes that may become apparent due to changes in scope in the project.
  • Expediting requests and ensuring that all consultants are working to facilitate hospital needs.
  • Ensuring end-user relocation is completed and executed effectively, according to schedule.
  • Coordinating, implementing, and managing multiple complex projects.
  • Evaluating the various proponent team design/construction proposals during the RFP open bid period as part of the Evaluation Team.
  • Liaising with project users and other stakeholders to ensure needs are addressed and issues resolved to meet objectives of the project.
  • Preparing RFPs for retention of consultants and contractors.
  • Working with the Redevelopment team and specialty consultants to ensure cohesive and complete documents.
  • Liaising and working with architects and engineering consultants during design and construction of projects to ensure the needs of the client and hospital are met.
  • Developing and implementing quality management goals and objectives.
  • Establishing, implementing, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Practicing in accordance with specific professional standards.
  • Assigning appropriate activities to other staff and volunteers, providing effective leadership, supervision, and direction.
  • Seeking help and accepting guidance when a gap in competence is identified.
  • Participating in the MH performance management program that includes self-assessment, peer review, and learning plan.
  • Maintaining own competency.
  • Promoting and assisting with activities for quality improvements.
  • Maintaining membership in professional job-related organizations as related to area of expertise and knowledge of current trends.
  • Continually seeking ongoing education.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum completion of a recognized Architectural or Engineering degree or recognized equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience.
