Role Description
This role involves developing and executing a strategic roadmap for our Tracking, Address, and Reconciliation products.
- Ensure APIs meet the quality bar of shippers everywhere
- Focus on clean carrier abstraction, complete and accurate data, and real-time updates
- Champion for shippers and external developers integrating to our APIs
- Define success metrics rooted in customer adoption, business impact, and service quality
- Make difficult prioritization decisions based on customer and business impact
- Develop a strong strategic view of our suite of API products
- Leverage effective communication skills to align individuals at all levels
- Engage deeply with the engineering team to maintain a high quality bar for products
Shipping & handling responsibilities
- Lead multiple engineering teams to develop enhancements to tracking, address, and reconciliation products
- Create and grow a clear abstraction of carrier capabilities in partnership with engineering
- Research API customers’ pain points and shipping strategies
- Continuously publish research, including competitor announcements and market analysis
- Develop a long-term roadmap for core product areas backed by research
- Collaborate with other product and engineering teams to build high-quality, scalable solutions
- Ensure reconciliation service captures 100% of carrier invoices for Shippo
- Understand and own the shipping domain; empathize deeply with merchants
- Review and prioritize new capabilities from carriers
- Support the engineering team during incidents to confirm expected product behaviors
- Support the organization in designing customer experience around feature releases
- Build customer-level and carrier-level insights and analytics off historic data
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Product Management experience, with a strong emphasis on technical platforms
- 2+ years of experience with external-facing API products
- Strong understanding of system architecture, APIs, and cloud technologies
- 2+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar technical role
- Proven track record of delivering great products end-to-end from strategy through execution
- Ability to think strategically, prioritize ruthlessly, and execute methodically
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Willing to wear many hats and collaborate with all levels of the organization
- Experience with eCommerce order fulfillment is a plus
- Experience with parcel carrier integrations is a plus

Our Compensation
We believe compensation is a custom experience and are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The standard base pay range for this role is min is $153k to a max $207k annual salary. We tend to anchor our pay in the middle of this range ($180k).
