Role Description

We’re looking for a product engineer who loves building consumer apps that feel smooth, polished, and delightful. You’ll join a small, fast-moving team where your code will reach millions, your design instincts will shape the user experience, and your ideas will help invent the future of social networks.

You’ll be joining the team responsible for Bluesky’s flagship app — a multi-platform, open-source social client already in the hands of millions. Your work will be immediately visible and will directly shape how people experience the future of social media.

This role is perfect for someone who loves consumer apps: sweating the details of interactions, building polished and delightful interfaces, and making complex flows feel simple. We’re a small, fast-moving team, so you’ll have the freedom to ship quickly, influence product direction, and push the boundaries of what a social app can feel like.

Qualifications

• Strong programming fundamentals and software engineering skills
• Deeply experienced with Typescript (5+ years)
• Shipped React Native apps to iOS, Android, and web
• Care about UI/UX quality and sweat the details
• Worked across the full stack (frontend and backend)
• Built motion-rich interfaces (gestures, animations)
• Intuitive understanding of how people use social apps
• Thrive on small, fast-moving teams where you can own big pieces of work
• Excited to help shape the future of social networking

Requirements

• Previous experience working at startups or on social media products
• Fully remote team, though working hours overlap with PST (Pacific Standard Time)
• On-site component to interviews may be required

Benefits

• Anticipated base salary range: $170,000 - $230,000, excluding equity
• Equity will be considered in the total compensation package
• Final base salary based on geographic location, experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications
