This Product Owner plays a critical role in shaping Group Health solutions by maximizing the value of what gets built — owning decisions around prioritization, sequencing, and trade‑offs to ensure the right work is delivered at the right time. Working closely with a Product Manager and delivery teams, this role translates user needs, business priorities, and operational considerations into a clear, actionable product backlog.

The ideal candidate brings strong relationship management, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills, along with experience in group health insurance and digital product delivery. This is an opportunity to have direct influence on outcomes, partner with leaders across Nationwide, and help evolve Group Health products during a period of growth and change.

This position can be staffed remotely for potential applicants with critical industry skills and relevant experience. This role does not qualify for employer sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, IT or related field (advanced degree preferred)
• Typically, 7 or more years of demonstrated experience in product management, business consulting & analysis, business process analysis and design
• Product, business or engineering background preferred

Requirements

• Proven understanding of a broad set of technologies and interactions impacting the end-to-end product
• Expert knowledge of insurance practices
• Advanced level understanding of agile planning and delivery methodologies in a product-centric operating model
• Solid understanding of customer business and product environment
• Must possess an entrepreneurial mindset focused on leading with customer centricity
• Command of both verbal and written communication and presentation abilities
• Demonstrated ability to manage through group level change such as change in business model, restructuring operations, new technologies, mergers, major collaborations, etc.
• Strong project and process management skills
• Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Capable of negotiating and interacting with senior leadership, internal and external partners
• Ability to solve problems and identify innovative and creative ways to bring customer experiences to life
• Strong knowledge of the Insurance industry, customer centric design principles and data and analytics
• Ability to manage a budget and effectively prioritize
