[Hiring] Product Owner @NextGen Commerce

Role Description

• Manage, prioritize, and continuously refine the product backlog based on business needs and delivery priorities.
• Gather, clarify, and translate business and technical requirements into actionable backlog items.
• Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation.
• Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand needs, resolve questions, and align priorities.
• Work directly with software delivery teams throughout planning, development, testing, and release activities.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and team working sessions.
• Serve as the primary bridge between business and technology teams, ensuring shared understanding of requirements and priorities.
• Support ongoing maintenance and enhancement of legacy insurance platforms, including domain migrations and system upgrades.
• Help prioritize work required to maintain critical business operations and platform stability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams as the organization evaluates modernization, platform conversion, replacement, and long-term architecture options for legacy/mainframe platforms.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a Product Owner, Business Product Owner, or in a closely related Agile product delivery role.
• Strong experience managing and prioritizing product backlogs in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience gathering and refining requirements and translating them into user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery practices and experience participating in Agile ceremonies.
• Ability to work closely with software engineering and delivery teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to manage changing priorities and multiple streams of work in a complex technology environment.
• Experience supporting technology platforms, applications, migrations, upgrades, or modernization initiatives.
• Strong documentation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work Central Standard Time business hours, approximately 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM CST, and remain available for team collaboration and Agile ceremonies throughout the workday.

Requirements

• Experience working within insurance, life insurance, financial services, or another highly regulated enterprise environment.
• Experience supporting legacy applications or mainframe-related environments.
• Exposure to application modernization, platform conversion, system replacement, or technology transformation initiatives.
• Experience working with multiple delivery teams or complex enterprise Agile environments.
• Understanding of software architecture, integrations, system dependencies, and technical delivery considerations.
• Experience partnering with architects, data architects, software engineers, and other technical stakeholders.
• Experience supporting long-term platform strategy or roadmap initiatives while maintaining existing business-critical systems.
