Role Description

The Product Management Manager will report to the Director, Product Management. This role is responsible for driving the product vision and delivery of initiatives for our Retirement & Wealth business line with their agile squad focused on the client experience. The squad will be empowered and accountable to build new products, features and enhancements to the existing product line while increasing business operational efficiency and retiring legacy systems while aligning tactical decisions with strategic architectural principles. The ideal incumbent will be strategic, innovative, and creative with a solid analytic foundation.

  • Creates compelling individual investor product experiences.
  • Helps drive strategy - conducts product and competitive research to help shape long and short-term strategy while providing quick and clear value add to the business.
  • Facilitates prioritization for a domain and aligns product roadmaps with a focus on measurable outcomes.
  • Tracks and regularly shares progress with stakeholders and the team.
  • Ensures each product has defined OKRs and ongoing monitoring and reporting.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders, various business lines and Technology to elicit, analyze and understand needs, constraints, risks and alignment with organizational strategy and priorities.
  • Enforces quality standards and best practices, ensuring Agile methods, processes, tools and metrics deliver consistent value.
  • Ensures discovery is co-led and ongoing across squads, spot-checks the quality of discovery outputs, and removes barriers to user, data, and stakeholder access.
  • Ensures Product Managers apply consistent measurement rigor and optimization discipline, and coaches them on analytics, experimentation, and insight-driven prioritization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of their domain.
  • Meets regularly with staff and provides constant feedback to power professional growth and learning.
  • Evaluates employee performance, provides feedback, and conducts performance reviews. Identifies areas for development and creates plans to enhance team members' skills.
  • Uniformly identifies high performers who consistently produce quality work.
  • Has a good understanding of their team’s strengths and opportunities, capitalizing on their strengths and coaching opportunities.
  • Removes barriers for the team, ensuring team members have all the tools, resources, and context to execute.
  • Adds challenges and conflicts that arise within the team or projects. Makes decisions that balance various factors and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
  • Provides direction, guidance, and support to a team of employees. Sets clear expectations, delegates tasks, and ensures effective communication within the team.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience in Product Management, including experience developing and coaching Product Managers.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Scrum Product Owner or Certified Product Manager credentials preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Background in Financial Services and Fintech strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of various technology solutions.
  • Proven leadership skills to gain credibility, garner respect, and guide the creation of self-organizing teams.
  • Strategic, innovative, and creative thinker with a solid analytic foundation.
  • Ability to be assertive with business priorities and address opposing viewpoints while adhering to Agile concepts and principles.
  • Working knowledge of Agile practices such as iterative development, incremental delivery, backlog management, burn down metrics, velocity and task definition.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills to connect and engage with the team, facilitate discussions, advocate for the team, negotiate with the business, mentor team members, and resolve conflicts.
  • Solid analytical skills, creative problem-solving skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, and flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and schedules.
  • Ability to handle multiple issues simultaneously and manage stressful situations.
  • Strong knowledge of technical concepts and architectural principles to drive scalable solutions.
