[Hiring] Product Engineer @OpsLevel

Role Description

This is a product engineering role. You'll own problems from end to end:

• Understanding what customers are stuck on
• Shaping the solution with product and design
• Building it and shipping it

Ownership doesn't stop at the merge. You're the one watching how it gets used and deciding what the next version looks like.

You'll also work with agents every day:

• Routing work through coding agents
• Building the internal pipeline that makes that actually work
• Structuring issues so an agent can pick them up
• Providing context files that give agents what they need
• Implementing guardrails that catch them when they get it wrong

Yes, we dogfood! We're doing to ourselves exactly what our customers are trying to do to their own engineering orgs, and a lot of our best product ideas come out of it.

Qualifications

• You approach problems with empathy and pragmatism
• You learn new things quickly
• You have product instinct
• You know Rails well (at least 5 years with Rails or 7 with a similar web framework)
• You have designed performant data models in MySQL

Requirements

• Work with product, UX, and other engineers to understand customer problems in depth
• Talk to customers and let that influence what you build
• Hold a high bar for your own work: well-tested code and reviews others can learn from
• Use coding agents as a normal part of how you work
• Help build our internal software factory
• Keep "you build it, you own it" alive
• Find, propose, and evangelize best practices in Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and database design
• Build private and public GraphQL APIs
• Lead technical explorations and build prototypes
• Ship on a predictable cadence
• Mentor the people around you
• Take part in our on-call rotation
