[Hiring] Manager of Product Engineering @Sourcewell

Role Description

The Manager of Product Engineering leads one of several engineering teams responsible for building, operating, and enhancing the products and platforms that serve Sourcewell’s clients, partners, and staff. Their team works across SaaS applications, web applications, integrations, data and analytics, and AI-enabled solutions. This hands-on leader develops engineers, contributes to technical solutions, removes obstacles, and partners with product owners and other leaders to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable products.

• Lead the development and implementation of strategy for an important area of responsibility within a function, anticipating complex issues, challenges, and opportunities.
• Maintain an established set of enterprise architecture artifacts.
• Drive advances in technologies and architectures to increase the value delivered by technology and digital capabilities.
• Design and select business-critical storage, data center, and client/server environments.
• Develop existing and new applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
• Take responsibility for developing and delivering a key element of the organization's data management system.
• Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues.
• Participate in the selection of external consultants or advisers to deliver key projects.
• Advance the organization's adoption of modern AI capabilities.
• Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs.
• Explain the local action plan to support team members in their understanding of what needs to be done.
• Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance.
• Track budgets and report variances to more senior colleagues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, information systems, OR a combination of post-secondary training, professional education, and related experience equivalent to four (4) years.
• Ten (10) years of experience in related roles, including:
• At least two (2) years of demonstrated experience leading engineering work.
• Experience contributing to system architecture, solution design, API development, or technical roadmaps.
• Experience using modern engineering practices and tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO), Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code reviews.
• Experience with relational or cloud-based databases and modern data platforms.
• Experience working with or supporting solutions that leverage modern AI capabilities.
• Experience implementing or supporting integrations across enterprise SaaS systems.
• Experience with one or more modern programming languages, frameworks, or engineering stacks.
• Experience collaborating with technical and business stakeholders.
• Managerial experience supervising and directing people and resources.

Requirements

• This is a remote position, subject to Sourcewell's telecommuting policies and procedures.
• May be asked to travel to Staples, MN for meetings, professional development, or team activities, up to two to three (2-3) times per year.
