Role Description

As an Associate Product Owner, you will own the delivery and ongoing optimization of client‑facing service platforms for BMO Investorline such as IVR and Live Chat.

  • Partner closely with Virtual Connect, Technology, Operations, and Change teams to translate business needs into well‑defined product features and solutions.
  • Bridge business requirements and technology capabilities, providing the voice of the business to cross‑functional teams.
  • Manage the product backlog, support adoption and enablement, and ensure solutions are delivered in a way that balances client experience, operational outcomes, and delivery discipline.
  • Develop and deliver the full product development lifecycle from setting strategic objectives to bringing a product to market that delivers business value.
  • Research, investigate, select, and develop products and services bridging business requirements with technology capabilities.
  • Drive end-to-end product lifecycle including the 'why', 'when', and 'what' of the product, persona development, proof of concepts, backlog management, and product activation through to product retirement.
  • Provide the voice of the business to cross-functional product teams to clarify feature, story, and content requirements; create story acceptance criteria; prioritize the product backlog; and translate the product vision into a roadmap and actionable tasks.
  • Identify the overall goal of a product(s), drive engagement of stakeholders, and lead the adoption of the product.
  • Drive the overall customer experience definition and prioritization that enables a focus on what matters most to our customers.
  • Ensure product management and development teams are producing in parallel and are working together effectively and efficiently.
  • Build and sustain high performing cross-functional teams; monitor and track performance, and address any issues.
  • Address blockers related to adoption and correct usage of the product, including communications, documentation, and training.
  • Establish the go-to-market, pricing, and positioning strategies.
  • Plan & manage the budget, timeline, and tactical components throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Identify and analyze market trends to update and improve product usability.
  • Ensure that a new product in development, or a new feature of an existing product is proven to be desirable, viable, and functional.
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support.
  • Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Work independently and regularly handle non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Take measured risks while protecting the bank by applying our Risk Management Framework in the execution of your role, in line with our Risk Culture and within our approved Risk Appetite.

  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

Requirements

  • Salary: $75,900.00 - $141,900.00
  • Pay Type: Salaried
  • Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure.
  • Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
  • For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
