Role Description

The Senior Operations Associate supports day-to-day deposit, Real Time Payments, and EFT activity, including ACH and wires. The role also supports process improvement, operations projects, and the design and maintenance of policies and procedures. This person plays a key role in how we use systems, automation, and AI-assisted tools across Operations.

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience in a financial institution setting, primarily in back-office transaction processing
• Strong analytical skills to document, evaluate, and recommend changes to processes, workflows, and procedures
• Comfort with monitoring, exception trends analysis, and partnership with product/engineering or vendors on automation and AI use cases

The area of responsibility for this role is wide and thus requires thorough knowledge of various company processes.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage daily processing for deposits, RTP, ACH, and wires, including manual and batch postings, research, exception handling, and support for general ledger reconciliation
• Coordinate and schedule daily work for EFT, ACH, and wire processing
• Act as a point of contact for the department when the Operations Manager is unavailable
• Support plans for electronic funds processes and member servicing
• Work on projects tied to system updates, service enhancements, and process changes
• Lead or support process reviews and testing, translating findings into production changes
• Identify high-volume, rules-based work that can be automated
• Work with stakeholders to define requirements, test solutions, and measure impact
• Collaborate with vendors, management, and regulators on internal services, funds transfer policies, compliance, security, and contingency planning
• Write and maintain procedure documents for their areas
• Use AI-assisted decision tools for exception handling, risk assessment, and fraud detection
• Support other business units with member requests and workflows
• Cross-train on critical processes and help maintain service levels
• Interact with vendors and third parties on behalf of members and the Credit Union
• Stay current on regulatory and technology changes
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
• Promote and maintain a positive work atmosphere
• Keep abreast of industry developments
• Perform additional duties as required

Qualifications

• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, data cleansing)
• Experience with basic data querying (e.g., SQL or BI tools) preferred
• Experience working with payment systems or RPA/automation tools
• Ability to learn new systems quickly and translate business requirements into system or configuration requirements
• College degree preferred
• At least four years of transactional processing experience in a bank or credit union
• At least two years in a similar Operations role; project experience preferred, supervisory experience a plus
• Experience with deposit and payment systems, including ACH, wires, and RTP
• Experience working with or supporting AI-assisted decision tools and automation
• Strong knowledge of rules and regulations governing transactional processing in financial institutions
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, decision-making, and time management skills
• High integrity, trustworthiness, and accountability
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel
• Comfort working in a remote, tech-enabled environment
