Role Description

As Director of Operations, you will own day-to-day operational performance and help build the systems, processes, and team rhythms that enable scalable growth. This role is ideal for an early-career operations leader (0–5 years) who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys solving messy problems, and can translate goals into clear execution across people, process, and tools.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and improve end-to-end operational workflows (order-to-delivery, scheduling, inventory/asset flow, service coordination, returns, and issue resolution as applicable)
• Establish operating cadence: daily/weekly metrics reviews, prioritization, and cross-functional coordination
• Define and track KPIs (on-time delivery, cycle time, utilization, cost-to-serve, quality, customer satisfaction) and drive action plans to improve them
• Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements using SOPs, checklists, and automation where appropriate
• Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Finance, and vendors to ensure smooth handoffs and consistent customer experience
• Own vendor and partner performance management (SLAs, scorecards, escalation paths, and continuous improvement)
• Support forecasting and capacity planning to ensure staffing, equipment, and logistics align with demand
• Build and maintain documentation: SOPs, training materials, and operational playbooks
• Lead, coach, and develop team members; set clear expectations and accountability
• Drive operational readiness for growth initiatives (new locations, new product lines, new systems, or new service offerings)

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)

• Develop a clear understanding of current workflows, pain points, and performance baselines
• Implement a simple, consistent KPI dashboard and operating cadence
• Deliver quick-win improvements that reduce delays, rework, or customer escalations
• Document core SOPs and clarify ownership across key processes
• Create a prioritized roadmap for operational improvements over the next 2–3 quarters

Qualifications

• 0–5 years of experience in operations, logistics, supply chain, field services, customer operations, or a similar environment
• Demonstrated ability to improve processes and drive measurable results
• Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data (spreadsheets, dashboards, KPIs)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate across teams and external partners
• Bias for action: comfortable rolling up your sleeves and executing in a fast-moving environment
• Ability to create structure—SOPs, workflows, and accountability—without overcomplicating

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in equipment, rentals, distribution, logistics, or service operations
• Familiarity with Lean/continuous improvement concepts (e.g., root cause analysis, 5 Whys, Kaizen)
• Experience implementing or improving tools such as ERP, WMS, TMS, CRM, or ticketing systems
• People leadership experience (formal or informal), including training and performance coaching
