Role Description

The Virtual Primary Care Physician is responsible for telehealth clinical care in a team-based model, supporting the clinical care and administrative tasks as they pertain to their position. The Virtual Primary Care Physician provides telehealth consultations exclusively for the patients of the Medical Group.

Essential Job Functions

• Consult and treat patients virtually by providing clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic telehealth medical services in the area of experience and training including but not limited to virtual urgent care and virtual primary care.
• Provide related administrative services including meeting attendance, in-basket management, and provider cross-coverage.
• Work as a key participant or leader within a designated Primary Care team structure.
• This role is for the virtual primary care track; however, urgent care may supplement primary care work as provider panel is established.

Qualifications

• Obtain and maintain licenses to practice medicine in the appropriate states, as requested.
• Obtain and maintain all approvals to prescribe and dispense drugs under applicable state and federal laws.
• Establish and maintain active participation in the Medicare and Medicaid program as an approved participating provider.
• Apply for, obtain, and/or maintain active medical staff privileges at MDLIVE pursuant to Medical Staff Bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Maintain board certification in their designated specialty.
• Maintain Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) licensure.
• Participate in regular Medical Staff activities and responsibilities, including attendance at Medical Staff meetings, completion of clinical chart reviews, and completion of all MDLIVE telemedicine training including annual compliance training.
• Complete and receive credit for continuing medical education per medical board and state licensure requirements.
• Prepare and complete timely and accurate medical and other records with respect to the services and treatment rendered to any patient.
• Meet or exceed quality metrics, clinical competencies, patient satisfaction, connectivity SLA and Medical Group standards.
• Take on additional tasks as reasonably requested.

Requirements

• Minimum forty (40) clinical hours per week including thirty-five (35) hours of direct patient care, and five (5) hours of administrative time.
• Eligible for bonus incentives for achievement of quality and clinical competency goals as outlined in offer letter.
• Participation in committees, quality improvement processes, patient safety review, mentorship opportunities.
• Collaboration in development of workflows, policies, and procedures as relates to virtual primary care hybrid care model.
• Supervision of APRNs in compliance with state requirements.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to provide high quality care, using verbal, written, and analytical skills, with a high level of empathy.
• Leadership within care team.
• Ability to interact with various levels of personnel within the organization, including patients, nursing, call center agents, colleagues, and senior leadership.

Education and Experience

• MD/DO with ABMS Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Practice.
• Board certification for minimum of two (2) years.
• Minimum four (4) years post residency experience in primary care setting.
• Telehealth experience a plus.
• Candidates with multiple state licenses preferred.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must stand, walk or sit; use a keyboard and computer mouse; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, kneel, bend talk and hear. Travel Requirements

As needed for requirements of maintenance of certification/CME; and participation in Medical Group meetings or events.

Compensation and Benefits

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 203,800 - 339,600 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location. This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan and long term incentive plan.
