Role Description
Harris Health is seeking a Virtual Patient Observation Technician (VPOT) to join the team at Ben Taub Hospital for a part-time evening shift from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The VPOT provides constant, real-time video monitoring of assigned patients to help maintain a safe care environment. Responsibilities include:

Observing patients for at-risk behaviors.

Providing verbal redirection when appropriate.

Communicating directly with nursing staff when additional intervention or assistance is needed.

Documenting observations according to established standards.

Following appropriate safety measures.

Participating in performance improvement and quality initiatives.

Interacting with patients, families, and staff while promoting a professional, supportive, and customer-friendly environment.
This position requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to continuously monitor multiple patients, sound judgment, and the ability to make timely decisions under pressure.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Technical skills or training appropriate to the specialty area.

Texas Nursing Assistant Certification; OR Medical Assistant certification from one of the following:

American Medical Technologists (AMT)
-
American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
-
National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
-
National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
-
National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Minimum of 2 years of related clinical experience required.

Strong verbal communication skills.

English/Spanish bilingual skills preferred.

Written communication and report-writing skills.

Professional telephone etiquette.

Medical terminology knowledge.

Computer proficiency.

Ability to analyze patient safety information and determine appropriate action.
