Role Description
Provides accurate and responsive service to all calls received during regular business hours. Appropriately uses the Barton Schmidt book and collaborates with physician on an as need basis to obtain orders as needed to facilitate patient care, schedules patients as needed for next day appointments.

Applies professional skills and knowledge of established concepts, principles, and practice to provide telephonic nursing services including, but not limited to, health information, health education, healthcare assessment and triage.

Appropriately uses the Barton Schmidt resource to answer calls.

Identifies emergent situations and effectively transfers life threatening calls to appropriate agencies per protocol.

Accurately communicates information to physician on call as needed.

Conducts thorough and sound nursing assessments of callerβs presenting symptoms.

Develops, implements and evaluates a plan of care for each callerβs presenting symptoms.

Applies nursing process to identify and prioritize healthcare triage interventions that are appropriate and accurate, effective and reduces the risk of adverse outcomes.

Appropriately schedules patients as needed for follow-up appointments.

Answers calls in a timely manner.

Maintains confidentiality of all caller and personnel issues.

Follows policy to document call inquiries clearly and thoroughly. Documentation will be completed immediately after the call ends.

Takes ownership of ensuring the Parkside Way is experienced by Parkside patients, families, and internal team members. Promotes an authentic, transparent work environment with Parkside team members. Always providing polite and courteous conversations.

Communicates transparently with Triage Team Lead and Manager, Clinical Services when issues arise or changes need to be made.

Must be able to meet during business hours for Clinical and Triage Team meetings.
Qualifications
-
Current SC license RN Required
-
2+ years pediatric experience
-
Nurse triage or primary care nursing experience preferred

Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills with customer service focus required
Requirements

Requires sitting, standing, and walking associated with a normal physician office environment.
