[Hiring] Trauma Data Coordinator @Tower Health

Role Description

The Trauma Data Coordinator (Trauma Registrar) accurately interprets and abstracts clinical data from the medical record into the trauma registry database as defined by the Pennsylvania Trauma Outcome Study (PTOS) and National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB) utilizing ICD-10 and AIS coding guidelines.

• Works independently to complete case abstraction within applicable time frame.
• Collaborates with other data coordinators on case assignment and submission.
• Performs inter-rater reliability and validity checks on peer abstracted cases.
• Utilizes abstracted data for quality and research projects and to guide trauma injury prevention initiatives.
• Runs reports to prioritize work as directed by program manager.
• Stays informed of all relevant PTSF and NTDB updates and changes.
• Attends trauma-related meetings and conferences as directed.
• Potential to work remotely. Dayshift - No Holidays.

Qualifications

• 2 year/Associate Degree - OR - combination of relevant education & experience may be considered in lieu of Associate Degree.
• Completes and maintains all competencies and trainings as required for role.
• Trauma registrar experience preferred.
• CSTR and CAISS certifications preferred.

Requirements

• Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) within 36 months of hire.
• AAAM AIS (Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine - Abbreviated Injury Scale) certification within 1 year of hire.
• Completion of certificate/degree in one or more of the following is preferred:
  • Certified Trauma Registry Specialist (CTRS-through ACS)
  • RHIT or RHIA (through AHIMA)
