Role Description
The Optum Serve Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner provides clinically competent delivery of quality virtual medical care services required during Optum Serve operations. The PA or NP is responsible for providing clinically competent medical care services, within their scope of practice. The PA or NP working remotely on behalf of Optum Serve is responsible for safe patient care and ensuring adherence to all Optum Serve Policies and Procedures.
This position works in collaboration with other providers as well as other team members of the healthcare team to complete virtual health assessments in non-traditional healthcare settings. This provider is responsible for virtual patient triage, assessments, and referrals of all presenting patients to Optum Serve Telehealth.
Seeking to hire PAs or NPs who reside or hold licensure in one of the following areas (Puerto Rico, Guam or Virgin Islands) with ability to obtain multiple state licenses per regional assignment: PR, GU or VI.

Primary Responsibilities:

This role is entirely remote and requires working in a non-traditional clinical setting.

Analyzes and interprets histories, symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information.

Maintains complete and detailed records of patientsโ plans of care.

Conducts virtual medical assessments and ensures appropriate follow-ups for all referrals.

Manages new medical problems and appropriate follow-up on ongoing medical problems.

Performs other duties as assigned by Leadership.

Applies proper patient identification practice and HIPAA compliance.

Provides virtual support in emergent situations to patients with medical needs.

Remains up to date on all contract requirements.
Emergency Response:

Responsible for assessment of patientโs emergent needs in a nontraditional setting.

Attunes assessment and critical thinking skills to ensure appropriate care can be delivered safely.

Skilled in emergency response.
Shift Expectations:
-
6 shift options: 8 am CST, 9 am CST, 10 am CST, 11 am CST, 12 pm CST or 1 pm CST start.

Each shift will be 8.5 hours and include two 15 minute breaks and one 30 minute lunch break.

All shifts must work one weekend rotation per month with the choice of a weekday off that week.

Qualifications
-
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) Program or Physician Assistant (PA) Program.

Valid and unrestricted professional PA or NP license in the state which you reside.

NP or PA licensure in Puerto Rico, Guam or Virgin Islands (PR, GU or VI).

Ability to apply for 10+ additional assigned state licensures within 2 weeks of hire date.

Collaborative physician agreement if applicable based on state scope of practice regulations.

1+ years as a PA or NP in a clinical environment including oversight of ancillary and clinical staff.

Experience conducting assessments on a wide variety of acute/chronic conditions.

Proven experience utilizing electronic health record (EHR) platforms.

Proven excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work one or more of the listed schedule requirements including one weekend rotation per month.
Preferred Qualifications

2+ years clinical experience in a health care delivery system.
-
VA and/or military experience.

Experience working in a Virtual setting.

Experience working in a call center environment, handling a high volume of calls.

Proven leadership experience including the ability to supervise, coach and develop staff.

Familiarity with government forms and documentation.

Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and database experience.

Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proven excellent social and therapeutic communications skills.
