Role Description
The Full Time Telehealth Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) provides remote education, anticipatory guidance, and lactation care for the breastfeeding dyad across the peripartum continuum in accordance with Nestβs evidence-based, family-centered, and goal-oriented model. A successful candidate will be capable of operating independently, is simultaneously thorough and efficient, appreciates and implements feedback and collaboration, and actively seeks internal and external education and resources to provide high-quality care.
Qualifications

Current certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and continuing education necessary to maintain certification.

Current Basic Life Support certification.

1+ years total experience practicing as an IBCLC, providing lactation care across the peripartum continuum (prenatal, postpartum, and natural duration breastfeeding) in varied settings (inpatient/outpatient) with a strong preference toward candidates with two or more years of experience.
Requirements

Knowledge of and ability to adhere to HIPAA and IBLCE professional standards.

Demonstrated knowledge and application of evidence-based practice.

Working knowledge of EHRs, Zoom, MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.

Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and customer service skills.
Preferred Skills / Abilities

Fluency and ability to provide care in another language, in addition to English.

Experience with lactation telehealth (video preferred).
Other Requirements

Oral and written fluency in English.

Proof of eligibility to work in the US.

Work-from-home requirements: Computer literacy, computer with audio and video capabilities to run software for telehealth visits and related activities, stable high-speed internet connection, quiet/private location to perform work and join team meetings.

Must be able to sit at a computer and work up to 8 hours per day.

Continuing education necessary to maintain IBCLC certification.
Shift Information

Must be available to work 32 or 40 hours per week, including weekends.

Full-Time, Non-exempt, 32 or 40 hours per week.

Assigned a static schedule.

Shifts are 8.5 hours per day, including a 30-minute meal break.

Available start times are 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, or 11:00 AM Eastern Time on scheduled workdays.
Duties / Responsibilities

Performs direct patient care through comprehensive preventive and acute care lactation consultations (prenatal, postpartum, individual, and group).

Develops individualized acute and preventive care plans, evaluates their effectiveness, and makes adjustments as indicated.

Facilitates Latch Lounge support groups using therapeutic communication, education, and anticipatory guidance.

Responsible for consultation preparation, chart completion per Nestβs charting standards, preparing and transmitting visit summaries to the dyadβs primary care providers, and facilitating appropriate follow-up.

Consistently practices according to external and internal established standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: journal club, mentorship and training, participation in team meetings, chart review, and special projects.
