[Hiring] Surveyor - Hospital Nurse @Joint Commission

Role Description

Currently seeking Acute Care Registered Nurse with Leadership experience in quality, accreditation and/or regulations.

• The RN Field Representative surveys health care organizations throughout the United States.
• Applies systems analysis skills and inductive reasoning skills to determine health care organizations' degree of compliance with applicable standards and functionality of care delivery systems.
• Engages health care organization staff in interactive dialogues on standards-based issues in health care to assess compliance and to identify opportunities for improving compliance.
• Prepares management reports that clearly link individual standards deficiencies with potential systems vulnerabilities and related organization risk points.
• Effectively communicates this information to health care organization leadership in a constructive and collegial style.
• Participates in other Joint Commission activities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Graduate of approved school of nursing and hold a master’s degree in appropriate discipline.
• Current professional license in discipline required at time of hire and must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
• Must hold a CPHQ certification (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) through National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) at time of hire or attain by 12/31/28.
• Five years of recent health care experience, including 3 years of direct clinical experience in the appropriate health care settings, and 3 years of accreditation, certification leadership or senior management experience.
• Contemporary knowledge of and experience in health care operations, clinical practice, use of performance improvement methods to assess organizational performance, and current research and trends relative to health care practices is essential.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission standards with direct involvement in two Joint Commission surveys.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal, interviewing, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
• Availability for part-time positions: two weeks (.48 FTE) or three weeks (.7 FTE) per month; full-time requires four weeks of availability.
• All positions require 100% nationwide travel.

Requirements

• Must be able to observe, in real time and without slowing or otherwise interrupting the progress of all applicable types of ongoing health care treatment.
• Standing for long periods of time, walking lengthy distances, lifting, climbing, stooping, pulling, and pushing to adequately inspect and observe all medical facilities, equipment, and procedures.
• Must be able to engage in extensive travel, including driving a car to remote locations, flying on small airplanes and into small airports, traveling in all types of weather conditions.
