Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Acts as subject matter expert, lending guidance and offering solutions for government projects and initiatives related to Medicare risk adjustment coding.
• Review Provider notes to abstract, assign, and enter valid ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes into EHR Platform (EPIC).
• Perform medical chart reviews to identify and correct any missed or erroneous HCC codes according to HCC coding requirements.
• Work with Providers to gain clarification or provide feedback to resolve coding issues and associated problems.
• Enter charges into the practice management system (MEDfx).
• File electronic claims within 48-72 hours of entry.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree - strongly preferred.
• 4 years of medical coding experience in a health plan.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCC coding and reimbursement guidelines.
• Knowledge and understanding of Medicare Advantage contracts and/or financial analysis.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and Electronic Health Record (“EHR”) Systems.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Ability to work quickly, accurately, and independently.
• Certified Professional Coder (“CPC”) - strongly preferred.
