[Hiring] Senior HIM Specialist @CommonSpirit Health

Role Description

As our Senior HIM Specialist, you will perform advanced Health Information Management functions to support the integrity, accuracy, and availability of patient health records across the entire medical record lifecycle.

Every day you will independently manage complex workflows including:

• Document imaging, chart analysis, data integrity resolution, and record completion processes
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including HIPAA
• Supporting providers and internal stakeholders in a fast-paced environment

Key responsibilities include:

• Performing advanced HIM functions including document imaging (prep, scan, index, quality review)
• Analyzing medical records for completeness; assigning and managing deficiencies in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Investigating and resolving data integrity issues (e.g., duplicate or unlinked medical record numbers) and maintaining Master Patient Index accuracy
• Processing and reconciling rejected orders and supporting provider completion workflows
• Supporting and processing release of information (ROI) requests in compliance with regulatory standards
• Ensuring adherence to HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements

Qualifications

• High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or
• High School GED General Studies, upon hire and
• 1-3 years Minimum of 2 years of Health Information Management experience in an acute care or healthcare setting or progress towards a RHIT, RHIA or progress towards a healthcare or business college degree program with relevant related experience, upon hire and
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and HIM applications required, upon hire and
• Preferred: Associates Degree in health-related field (RHIT) or completion of healthcare degree program (RHIA) preferred upon hire, upon hire and
• Experience with data integrity, chart analysis, and record completion workflows preferred, upon hire
• Registered Health Information Administrator, upon hire or
• Registered Health Information Technician, upon hire
