Role Description

In this exciting role as the Senior Field Clinical Research Specialist within the Renal Denervation team, you will be responsible for clinical trial site management, case coverage, and clinical trial data tracking. This is a field-based, customer-facing position. You will be the “front line” of Medtronic clinical study conduct at the site level, forming customer relationships that will ensure studies are conducted effectively and efficiently, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Location: remote position in Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom, or Austria

Ability to travel up to 75% primarily within Europe

  • Provides field support for various clinical research studies by selecting sites, performing activation duties, setting up protocols, providing training, helping to enroll participants, supporting cases, ensuring quality data acquisition, and performing study closure activities.
  • Addresses clinical research site needs by maintaining frequent contact via email/phone/on-site visits with principal investigators, sub-investigators, and research coordinators.
  • Responsible for gaining and maintaining knowledge of clinical sites in a given geographic area to best understand and assess investigators' interests and capabilities.
  • Provides continuous communication to in-house clinical trial leaders regarding the status and performance of multiple studies.
  • Assists in control of device allocation, distribution, and reconciliation.
  • Assists with overall successful conduct of assigned clinical studies consistent with applicable regulations, guidelines, and policies.
  • Interfaces with representatives from key functional groups (Monitoring, Data Management, Research & Development, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and Clinical groups).
  • Identifies and mitigates quality risks and issues for assigned clinical studies, with oversight from study management.
  • Oversees follow-up and resolution of site issues.
  • Refers to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and study management process for guidance on everyday study tasks.
  • Participates in training to enhance knowledge base.
  • Assists with oversight of activities performed by Contract Research Organizations (e.g., CROs, core labs).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of clinical research/clinical experience – OR - Advanced degree with 2 years of clinical research/clinical experience.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in additional European languages is preferred.
  • Good prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with or managing clinical devices, particularly in catheterization laboratories, biomedical engineering, hospital or clinical setting experience.
  • Cardiovascular or cardiac rhythm management device training, or medical sales experience is also valued.
  • Experience within the medical device industry, ideally with Medtronic, would also be valuable.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory requirements for clinical trials.
  • A professional certification in clinical research, such as CCRP, CCRC or an equivalent qualification, would be an additional advantage.

  • Pay range:
    • Austria: 70,400.00 EUR - 105,600.00 EUR
    • Belgium: 70,480.00 EUR - 105,720.00 EUR
    • Germany: 72,720.00 EUR - 109,080.00 EUR
    • Netherlands: 64,800.00 EUR - 97,200.00 EUR
    • United Kingdom: 50,400.00 GBP - 75,600.00 GBP
  • This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
