[Hiring] Senior Coder @Providence

Role Description

Under general supervision appropriately assigns DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT to all patient account types according to AHA and UHDDS guidelines. This is a credentialed coder/abstractor position responsible for coding levels up to and including:

• Inpatient – All types of cases
• Outpatient Clinical
• Emergency Room
• Same Day Surgery
• Observation

Qualifications

• Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders, or
• National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association, or
• National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association, or
• National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association, or
• National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association
• 1 year of CPT and ICD-10-CM acute care hospital coding experience.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree: Medical Record Technology (preferred)
• Coursework/Training: Completion of a certified coding program with intense anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease process and pharmacology (preferred)
• 3 years of Inpatient coding in an acute care setting (preferred)
• Experience in other clinical or healthcare disciplines (preferred)
