[Hiring] Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner @Backpack Healthcare

Role Description

Backpack Healthcare is growing our Michigan clinical team! We're looking for a compassionate, clinically strong PMHNP who wants the flexibility of part-time telehealth practice without giving up the collaboration and support that make great clinical care possible.

You'll provide comprehensive psychiatric care to children, teens, and young adults through telehealth, with a focus on evidence-based, family-centered treatment. Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability is required—that's when families are most available for care.

• Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and developing diagnostic formulations
• Creating individualized treatment plans in partnership with patients and families
• Prescribing and managing psychotropic medications while monitoring effectiveness, safety, and clinical progress
• Providing brief supportive interventions and psychoeducation alongside medication management
• Collaborating with therapists, psychiatrists, and care coordinators through regular case consultation
• Maintaining accurate, timely clinical documentation in our EHR
• Educating patients and families about diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and expected outcomes

Qualifications

• An active, unrestricted Michigan PMHNP license (multi-state or compact licensure preferred)
• PMHNP-BC board certification
• An active DEA license
• A master's or doctoral degree from an accredited PMHNP program
• Experience with—or a strong interest in—working with children, adolescents, and families
• Comfort working independently in a telehealth environment
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and genuine empathy
