Role Description

Home Grown, a fiscally sponsored project of the Health Federation of Philadelphia, is a national collaborative dedicated to creating a more inclusive child care system that values and supports home-based child care (HBCC), including care provided by family, friends, and neighbors (FFN). The organization envisions a future where all children have access to quality care that fosters their growth, learning, and well-being.

Home Grown believes that the voices of providers and parents must shape policy decisions and action. We are committed to supporting the leadership, visibility, and participation of home-based child care providers. As such, Home Grown seeks to add a Provider in Residence to the Home Grown team to:

• Advise on strategy and program development
• Deepen provider engagement
• Co-lead select initiatives
• Serve as ambassadors for the mission of Home Grown

The Provider in Residence is a deeply community-centered, relationship-based role. They are self-motivated and thrive in relationship-centered work, grounded in equity and respect for diverse lived experiences.

Qualifications

• Education: Any related training, credentials, and degrees for caregiving and care work are a plus.
• At least 5 years of experience as a home-based child care provider (either licensed Family Child Care, license-exempt, or Family, Friend, and Neighbor).
• For FCC, publicly funded pre-K or Head Start experience preferred.
• For FCC, experience with the Quality Rating Improvement Systems (QRIS) in your state.
• Experience with the public subsidy/voucher system and/or CACFP program in your preferred state.
• Experience as a leader within your provider community.
• Solid understanding of state and federal child care and early childhood education policy.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust and relationships across demographics.
• Culturally competent, empathetic, and strongly oriented to support diverse stakeholders from various communities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to facilitate groups of providers and stakeholders.
• Strong project coordination and follow-through skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
• Confidence with technology and virtual communication.
• Strong commitment to the mission of Home Grown.
• Ability to work remotely.

Requirements

• Fully remote position working with a national team.
• Full-time position. Typical hours are Monday through Friday. Flexible office schedule options are available, subject to supervisor approval.
• Ability to travel about 15% of the time annually to meet with community members, attend conferences, and for internal gatherings.
