[Hiring] Physician (Telepsychiatry Coordinator) @JUSTICE, BUREAU OF PRISONS

Role Description

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

• Serves as the Telepsychiatry coordinator under the direction and supervision of the Chief Psychiatrist, Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP).
• Leads, directs, supervises, coordinates, participates in, and oversees the functioning and growth of the telepsychiatric services within the BOP.
• Provides supervision, orientation, and training to all stand-alone Psychiatrists (telepsychiatrists) at non-medical center locations.
• Coordinates the workload and psychiatric support efforts between telepsychiatrists and their assigned institutions.
• Provides clinical and administrative oversight as needed to field telepsychiatrists and mainline staff.
• Serves in an advisory or consultation relationship to other health care professionals performing evaluations in the assigned mainline institutions.
• Coordinates and ensures quality patient care in accordance with administrative policies of the BOP, American Correctional Association (ACA), JC, and other regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

• Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada, accredited by recognized bodies.
• Degree from Foreign Medical School: Must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States.
• Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a recognized jurisdiction.
• Graduate Training: At least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting.
• Additional Requirements: 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled OR equivalent experience and training.

Requirements

• Experience monitoring and evaluating quality of patient care in accordance with administrative policies and other regulatory agencies.
• Experience in providing clinical and administrative oversight regarding key issues and potential solutions for services.
• Experience in making diagnoses and selecting and providing appropriate treatment for emergency medications or emergency consults.
• Experience utilizing established programs, systems, or training to guide staff performance and career development.
• Experience making recommendations on matters of policy, procedures, training, personnel, and equipment related to specific areas of responsibility and expertise.
