[Hiring] Physician - Neurologist @VA Central Iowa Health Care System

Role Description

The Central Iowa VA Health Care System is recruiting for a full-time remote Neurologist. Responsibilities include:

• Providing consultation services and follow-up for medical subspecialty patients in Neurology, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Working at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines or affiliated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
• Participating in special projects pertinent to assigned sub-specialty as they become available.
• Engaging in discharge planning and interdisciplinary patient care activities for inpatients.
• Providing clinical oversight and review as a supervising or collaborating physician for mid-level providers.
• Acting as a surrogate for patients of colleagues when necessary.
• Maintaining quality of care to meet professional standards at all times.
• Working within privileges unless necessitated by an emergency.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship.
• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Requirements

• Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected.
• Physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.
• Residents currently enrolled in accredited residency training programs may be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs).
• In rare circumstances, exceptions to the residency training requirement may be approved based on the candidate's qualifications.
