Role Description
The Patient Account Coordinator is responsible for coordinating billing activities between Patient Accounting and third-party payers. This position monitors insurance reimbursement and investigates and resolves payment discrepancies to ensure payments are accurate and consistent with established payer contracts.

Assist with contract builds and maintenance within the EHR system.

Research payer policies and communicate relevant updates to appropriate departments.

Monitor and process refunds.

Communicate with insurance companies.

Prepare and submit appeals related to reimbursement discrepancies.

Participate in departmental Quality Improvement Process (QIP) teams to support initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness of the billing and reimbursement process.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.

Five years in Patient Accounting setting preferred.

Additional computer skills and medical terminology preferred.

Associate's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.

5 years work experience with at least two years in Patient Accounting setting.

Two years in a computerized setting which utilizes various PC software required.

Two years formal training beyond high school or comparable on the job experience required.

Human relations skills, organizational skills, expertise in communication, both verbally and written, and outstanding PC skills required.
Requirements

Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing as required.

Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
