Role Description

As a Patient Access Specialist, you manage administrative duties related to the patient intake process, adhering to established guidelines and procedures. You serve as a key point of contact for patients, ensuring efficient scheduling, accurate registration, and a seamless, high-quality patient experience.

• Interact with patients in person and by phone to support check-in and check-out processes.
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments in alignment with provider guidelines and availability.
• Collect and update patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accurate registration and billing.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits to reduce claim denials and reimbursement delays.
• Collect co-pays and applicable payments at the time of service.
• Process referrals and authorizations according to clinic and payer requirements.
• Respond to patient inquiries with clear, professional communication.

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional, patient-centered customer service. You will maintain a working knowledge of insurance processes, billing practices, and medical terminology, and effectively navigate Epic systems, including scheduling and registration tools.

• Manage multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with patients, providers, and care teams.

Work includes:

• Verifying demographics and registering patients in Epic.
• Obtaining and verifying insurance coverage.
• Scheduling patient appointments.
• Promoting MyChart activation.
• Scheduling for special projects (e.g. Healthgrades; Seven Corners virtual visits) as assigned.

Qualifications

• One year of customer service work experience is required.
• Healthcare environment experience is preferred.

Requirements

• Monday–Friday, with occasional weekends required.
• Shifts may vary between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. based on business needs.
• This is a Remote position. Employees who live within approximately 1–1.5 hours of the Connection Center in Tacoma, WA will be required to complete on-site training for the first 3 weeks–90 days, based on training needs.
• Remote training options are available for employees who live outside the local commuting area.

• Reliable high-speed internet connection with a minimum download speed of 100 Mbps.
• Ability to connect directly to the modem/router using an Ethernet cable; Wi-Fi-only connections are not sufficient.
