[Hiring] Medical Technologist Surveyor @Joint Commission

Role Description

The Medical Technologist Surveyor conducts thorough evaluations of laboratory programs across the United States. Applies systems analysis skills and inductive reasoning skills to determine laboratory's degree of compliance with applicable standards-based issues in health care to assess compliance and to identify opportunities for improving compliance. Prepares management reports that clearly link individual standards deficiencies with potential systems vulnerabilities and related organization risk points. Effectively communicates this information in a constructive and collegial style. Participates in other Joint Commission activities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Medical Technologist with a Master's degree in a health-related field.
• Registered with a nationally accredited organization.
• Certification requirement: CPHQ certification (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) through National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) at time of hire or attain by 12/31/28.
• Experience in three or more technical areas.
• Working knowledge of compliance and regulatory accreditation.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Experience working in a large point of care setting.
• Experience in leading or participating in regulatory and safety committees.
• Sales or teaching experience is highly desirable.

Requirements

• Five years of recent experience, including 3 years of direct clinical experience in appropriate health care settings.
• 2 years of accreditation or certification leadership or senior management experience.
• Contemporary knowledge of and experience in health care operations, clinical practice, and use of performance improvement methods to assess organizational performance.
• Current research and trends relative to health care.
• Experience in an accredited health care organization is preferred.
• Direct involvement in healthcare accreditation surveys preferred.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and direct involvement with a minimum of two Joint Commission surveys preferred.
• Physical abilities to observe ongoing health care treatment without interruption.
• Ability to stand for long periods, walk lengthy distances, lift, climb, stoop, pull, and push to adequately inspect and observe all medical facilities, equipment, and procedures.
• Extensive travel, including driving to remote locations and flying into small airports.
• Availability for part-time positions: two weeks per month (0.48 FTE) and provide two weeks of availability for scheduling.
• Full-time positions available: 0.70 (3 weeks per month) and 1.0 (4 weeks per month) FTE.
• All positions require 100% nationwide travel.
• Must be located within approximately 50 miles of a major commercial airport with direct access to domestic and/or international flight routes.
