Role Description

The Department of Radiation Oncology at UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Medical Physicist to join our dedicated team of:

• 1 Radiation Oncologist
• 2 dosimetrists
• 4 radiation therapists
• 1 CT simulation therapist

UPMC Western Maryland offers state-of-the-art treatment on:

• 2 Varian linacs (1 TrueBeam, 1 Trilogy)
• 1 PET/CT Sim unit
• Eclipse treatment planning system with Aria record and verify database

A partial remote coverage can also be discussed.

Qualifications

• A physical science or engineering degree required; medical physics is preferred.
• Masters required.
• Two years Radiation Oncology Physics experience required; five years preferred.

Requirements

• Oversee the work of dosimetrists to ensure accurate and personalized treatment plans.
• Collaborate with the Radiation Oncologist to plan and deliver patient treatments.
• Develop and direct quality control programs for equipment and procedures.
• Ensure equipment functionality by taking precise measurements of the radiation beam.
• Perform clinical physics duties, including maintaining Commonwealth regulatory compliance and calibrating all radiation therapy equipment.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

• American Board of Radiology (ABR) certified in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics or ABR Board eligible.
